Are you ready to claim the authority that comes with being a bestselling author? With social media, it’s possible to let hundreds or even thousands of very targeted prospects to know you are a bestselling author. Every person who views a post, a tweet or a share, etc. has the potential to purchase the book, like it, share it and comment on it. To those people, you are the authority on the subject for which you wrote about. You have positioned yourself in those people’s mind above your competition. You now have a competitive advantage that you can leverage.
Comedians are a great example of leveraging exposure. Clubs promote comedians by the shows they’ve been on, like, “as seen on Comedy Central.” Even if people have never heard of the comedian, they assume he/she is funny because of the shows they’ve been on.
Just imagine that you had just topped the New York Times Best-Seller List. How many people would you want to know you had been on it? EVERYBODY! Remember, every view, mention, and sale of the book will touch a circle of influencers that can move a market. Some are just larger than others. That’s why you should treat every media exposure as an opportunity to separate yourself from the competition and be positioned as the go-to person in your market and business niche.
Books are Evergreen
Another point to remember is that books, especially Kindle books, are evergreen. This means that once they are published, they are online forever. You can mine their impact over time by using different social media platforms and changing how you package the announcement. For example, you can use personalized book cover art with the first announcement, a screenshot of one of your media releases about your book in the second announcement, a direct link to the Amazon book site on your third announcement, and a personal request to “check it out” in your fourth announcement. If you are creative, persistent and consistent your authority and top of mind awareness will grow.
